About Easton, MD

A country seat and small town of Talbot County, Easton is a popular neighborhood from retirees to young professionals. In the eastern part of this town, U.S. Route 50 runs from the north to the south traveling northwest to Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Washington Street is the main street in this town that connects to Maryland Route 565 in the South. Easton is also 71 miles to Baltimore, which takes around a 1 hour, 19-minute drive. The town is also home to two airports including Ewing Airport and Easton/Newnam Field Airport.

Easton is characterized by a range of art galleries, bed and breakfast hotels, and antique shops that attract visitors from everywhere.

Officially formed in the 19th century, the location of Easton was chosen since it was close to Pitt’s Bridge. During the 19th century, the population of the town was only 1,500. Today this number has grown to 16,500 and the town has turned into an art and cultural center. Easton is also the proud home to the Easton Ice Hawks, a team that plays in the Chesapeake Beltway League.

Easton has several parks, including Glebe Park, Tots Park, and Idlewild Park. The town is also home to a lake known as the Papermill Pond, where people come to fish for largemouth bass and rainbow trout.

This town is a popular destination for various outdoor activities and sports. Some of these activities include playing golf, practicing skeet shooting, cycling the Tred Avon Circle, or water activities such as canoeing, crabbing, kayaking, and sailing.

There is lots to see and do in Easton throughout the year. For example, concerts and theatrical performances are held at the Avalon Theatre. There are also many restaurants and pubs to visit along with a popular bowling alley that goes by the name of Easton Bowl.
